Caddie's Summary: Kearney Hill has a
longstanding history of major Senior Tournament Play and hosts a wide
variety of regional amateur tournaments. A Pete Dye links course, the wind is usually made very
apparent and
is a definite factor. The design of the course allows for a few misses from the tee, but scoring low
scores is never
made easy with approaches to large undulating greens and the numerous fairway and green-side
bunkers.
Putting can get tricky when the greens roll fast and club selection into the greens is often
affected by pin position.
As public play goes, Kearney continues to be one of the top around, and offers a different feel and
play from
many of the KY courses due to the true links design. The course has a rolling terrain and both
greens and fairways
are mature and provide excellent lies. Water comes into play on about six holes and the layout is
open with few of
the fairways running parallel. All-in-all, Kearney remains a top location to take clients and to
enjoy an excellent
design on a well-conditioned course.
